When it was time for the Roman census, Joseph and Mary went to the tiny town of Bethlehem. Joseph could not find a room at any of the inns, so he took Mary to the warmest place he could find: a nearby stable. There, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She wrapped him in a warm blanket and placed him in a manger.
In that moment, the prophecy of Micah written 700 years earlier came to be. He had written that a woman would give birth in the tiny town of Bethlehem to a new kind of ruler, who would become a shepherd to his people.
